Get ready for a Sex and the City-inspired reality dating show

Author Candace Bushnell is developing "Is There Still Sex in the City?" with Bunim/Murray Productions.

And just like that… a new Sex and the City-inspired reality series is in the works.

Candace Bushnell, the author of the book that served as the basis for the hit HBO show, is working with Bunim/Murray Productions on a dating series titled Is There Still Sex in the City? The show is to follow four women in their 50s as they escape to a country chateau to flirt with a series of suitors from all walks of life.

Per the series' logline, "They'll try the boy toys, sample a senior age player, be romanced by the rich guys and even get to flirt with their fantasy man. But in the end, who will really steal their hearts, and will our ladies be able to bring the sex back to the city?"

Bushnell said in a statement, "Fifty-something women and above are the hottest new dating demographic, and I should know, I am one of them. Over the decades, I've dated men of all ages and I'm so excited to be working on a show that combines my passion for relationships with the chance to help women, like me, navigate a love do-over."

Bushnell is "very involved creatively and open to on-camera appearances," according to a Bunim/Murray spokesperson. Preliminary casting is also underway.

Bunim/Murray is set to take Is There Still Sex in the City? to potential buyers next month.

The series takes its name from Bushnell’s 2019 novel following a different set of characters than SATC. The dating show would mark the fifth TV program based on Bushnell’s books, following Sex and the City, Lipstick Jungle, The Carrie Diaries, and And Just Like That. Bushnell also hosted Sex, Lives and Video Clips on VH1 in the 1990s.

Bushnell created Carrie Bradshaw as her alter ego (note the initials) while writing Sex and the City as a newspaper column in The New York Observer so her parents wouldn’t know she’d attended sex clubs. Sarah Jessica Parker has famously played the character on the big and small screens for a quarter-century.

Bunim/Murray is behind other hit reality series including The Real World, Road Rules, and The Challenge.
