Real Estate Mogul To Finance Next Genre Film From ‘Insidious’ & ‘Paranormal Activity’ Producer Steven Schneider

EXCLUSIVE: Real estate mogul Doval Bacall is set to finance producer Steven Schneider’s next feature film, Boyfriend, as his first significant entertainment deal.

Genre specialist Schneider is known for his work on the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises as well as The Devil Inside, The Visit, Split, Pet Sematary and Watcher.

Bacall is principal and partner of Bacall Companies, a family-owned commercial real estate development and management company which has works across the retail, offices, food and beverage, hospitality and financial lending sectors. He runs the company with his brothers and business partners Dante, Dorayd and Daivin Bacall. Current holdings include more than 145 properties located throughout the Midwest and Florida.

Boyfriend is an original screenplay by Marlon Chapman and will be directed by Anne Hamilton (American Fable), produced by Schneider of Room 101, Doval Bacall under his Your Script Produced! Studios banner and Paul Coy Allen of Midas Entertainment.

The movie tells the story of an intrepid young woman who is obsessed with finding her sister’s abductor and fashions herself into his next victim to uncover the truth.

Shelley Browning of Magnolia Entertainment, Stuart Manashil of Novo Entertainment and Doval Bacall under his Doval Bacall Entertainment banner will serve as executive producers.

The project is casting and aims to film at FilmStradt Baden Studios in Austria in September, taking advantage of the country’s tax rebate program.

“I am honored to get to work with Steven on this very commercial feature with someone who has mastered a very lucrative genre,” said Bacall.

Hamilton is represented by Magnolia Entertainment and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
