‘Rebel Moon’ Is Over-Indexing With Black and Hispanic Households | Charts

The first installment of Zack Snyder’s sci-fi fantasy adventure, “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire” landed on Netflix to a massive 1.7 million U.S. households in its first five days available to stream. The film debuted in the No. 3 spot on the streaming leaderboard in its inaugural week on the charts, according to the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report for the week of Dec. 18 to Dec. 24.

Hispanic households tuned in to watch Kora and her group of warriors protect Veldt from the Motherworld at the highest rate compared to the rest of the country, over-indexing by 12%. Additionally, “Rebel Moon” over-indexed with Black households by 8% compared to the national average.

If this isn’t good enough news for fans of Snyder’s series, audiences will soon get to stream “Part Two: The Scargiver” when it hits Netflix in just a few short months.

The return of “Reacher” on Amazon’s Prime Video landed in the top spot on the streaming charts this week, while Netflix’s apocalyptic film “Leave The World Behind” fell to second.

Meanwhile, the sixth season of royal drama “The Crown” landed at No. 4, up two spots from the prior week. At No. 5 is “Gran Turismo,” which debuted in select theaters over the summer and landed on Netflix earlier this month. The film’s star-studded cast based on a true story includes “Stranger Things” actor David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and “Saltburn” star Archie Madekwe.

Coming-of-age drama “My Life With the Walter Boys” and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” streaming on Netflix and VOD also both notched another week on the leaderboard, at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.

The new Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” based on the bestselling Rick Riordan books, debuted at No. 6 this week, with its first two episodes dropping on the platform slightly ahead of schedule. The season premiere garnered almost 900,000 U.S. households tuning in to watch within its first six days available on the platform. The new adaptation particularly resonated with younger viewers, as Gen Z households watched the season premiere at the highest rate compared to the rest of the country, over-indexing by 10%.

Bradley Cooper’s feature, “Maestro,” chronicling legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre, played by Carey Mulligan, nabbed No. 9. Cooper wrote, directed and starred in the film, which is already generating Oscar buzz, but only time will tell if it can also demonstrate staying power atop the streaming charts.

Finally, Apple TV+’s “The Family Plan” rounded out the No. 10 spot this week. The comedy starring Mark Wahlberg is already breaking the platform’s streaming records and may prove to be a runaway hit for Apple.

On broadcast television, NBC’s “The Voice” was once again on top, with its finale episode earning the No. 1 spot and all three telecasts landing in the top 10 this week as Virginia blues rocker Huntley, coached by Niall Horan, was crowned the Season 24 winner.

With families across the country gathering for the holidays, ABC’s airing of holiday classic “Home Alone” landed at No. 3, followed by “Saturday Night Live” hosted by Emma Stone” at No. 5. Telecasts of CBS’ “Survivor” and Fox’s “The Simpsons” also scored a spot on the charts this week. Finally, game show program “Wheel of Fortune” nabbed three telecasts in the top 10.
