Reneé Rapp is passing the mic to Christopher Briney for her birthday bash this week.

The Mean Girls actress, who stars as Regina George in the new film after playing the queen bee on Broadway, tells PEOPLE she's forcing her costar Briney, 25, to sing karaoke at her birthday party this week.

"He's going to do 'Night Changes' by One Direction for my birthday on Wednesday, at the club," says Rapp, who's turning 24. "That's what we'll be doing. For you." Briney responds, "Oh, man."

The Summer I Turned Pretty actor plays Aaron Samuels in the new musical reimagining of Mean Girls, one of the few roles that doesn't require any singing on screen.

"I don't love to sing," says Briney. "But if I [had to] I'd probably do some Billy Joel. I listened to only Billy Joel for, like, two years. I like his ballads."

Rapp — known for her own hit songs like "Talk to Much" and "Pretty Girls" — says she has a few karaoke go-to tunes. "My karaoke song used to be 'One Less Lonely Girl' by Justin Bieber, and I would sing it to my friends.

"Now my go-to karaoke — like done-done — is 'In Love with Another Man,' Jazmine Sullivan. Like, if I'm with my friends and we want to sing sing and get plastered and really f---ed, absolutely," she says. "But, 'One Less Lonely Girl!' "

The other Mean Girls cast members identified their karaoke picks as well. For Angourie Rice, 23, North Shore High School's new Cady Heron, it's "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers.

Damian actor Jaquel Spivey, 25, gets specific with Whitney Houston's songs: "In my key, 'How Will I Know' or 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody,' because I think everybody and their mama knows it. But in my key."

Auliʻi Cravalho, the 23-year-old Moana voice actress who stars as Janis in Mean Girls, says, "I often sing 'Valerie' [by Amy Winehouse] and Journey, so 'Wheel in the Sky' probably."

The two other Plastics actresses, Bebe Wood as Gretchen and Avantika as Karen, have their karaoke solos planned out too. "Maybe 'What's Up?' by 4 Non Blondes, kind of a good go-to karaoke song," says Wood, 22.

Avantika, 18, meanwhile, says, "I was thinking 'Call Me' by Blondie. Or if I'm really off my rocker and I'm like, 'Let's go crazy,' then I'll do Adele and completely butcher it and pray everyone has earplugs in! Or I'll do Amy Winehouse."

Tina Fey is back to write and costar as Ms. Norbury in the new Mean Girls, which is a musical version of the story from the 2004 comedy movie. The new cast says the musical elements expand the story and allow fans to know more about the beloved characters.

"What I love about musicals is that they give us the permission to fully sink into feelings that we might feel afraid to really inspect or look at," says Rice. "Musicals give you a world in which you can release everything and not feel ashamed by it."

The Spider-Man actress adds, "It gives you more opportunity to get into the mindset of the characters and to understand the world they're in. Also, music just gives me such a rush."

Mean Girls is in theaters on Friday.
