A restaurant manager with previous convictions for molest committed a similar offence on an 18-year-old sales assistant on an escalator at an MRT station.
Nine months later, Ching You Chun, who has been diagnosed with voyeuristic disorder, repeated the crime on an 18-year-old student while out on bail for the earlier offence.
At the State Courts on Thursday (14 March), Ching, 26, was jailed for one year after he pleaded guilty to two molestation charges.
On 21 February last year, Ching molested the sales assistant on the escalator to the train platform at Jurong East MRT station. The victim felt a tap on the side of her breast and turned around to see Ching.
At the station platform, she stared at the perpetrator but he walked away. She followed him to the ticket concourse and confronted him, but he denied touching her.
The victim lost sight of him shortly after and called the police.
On 3 November, Ching molested the university student while on the escalator to the train platform at Yew Tee MRT station.
He similarly tapped the victim on her breast, and then walked away as if nothing had happened.
The victim did not dare to shout for help as she was worried that Ching might turn violent. She called the police shortly after.
In 2008, Ching was placed on probation for molestation. He was jailed for four weeks for the same crime in 2011, and imprisoned for 10 weeks in 2016.
For using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a person, Ching could have been jailed for up to two years, along with a fine and caning, per charge.
