About a year ago, I went on a romantic getaway to Mexico with my now fiancé. Because I refuse to check a bag, I had to fit everything in my carry-on suitcase — which meant I needed to find one scent that could work for beach days and fancy dinners. Desperate to find a universal vacation scent that could go through TSA, I went to my nearest Sephora and grabbed a travel size of the REPLICA Beach Walk perfume that was all over TikTok.
Reader, it was the best thing I brought with me. Other than the pounds of sunscreen, of course.
Maison Margiela describes REPLICA Beach Walk as “sun-kissed salty skin” in a bottle. And I couldn’t agree more. After all, there are a ton of studies out there on the strong relationship between memory and fragrance. A 2021 study suggests that scent can trigger memories thanks to the connection between the olfactory system and the brain’s hippocampus (where all of our memories, pleasure, pain and motivation hang out). Cool, right?
I’m actually wearing it right now and cannot stop sniffing my wrist. Currently, I’m back relaxing by the pool with a frozen coconut drink in my hand, reading Bridgerton and wearing a hot-as-hell bikini with my fiancé lying nearby. Sometimes it’s fun to be obsessed with yourself along with the memory of a perfect vacation — and this perfume does that.

If you’ve opened TikTok in the last two years, you’ve definitely heard of the line of REPLICA perfumes from Maison Margiela. From clean scents like Lazy Sunday Morning to smoky, sultry ones like Jazz Club, the iconic bottles (and matching candles) are everywhere. While I’ve definitely spritzed some (read: many) testers at Sephora, it’s still Beach Walk that has my heart. Maybe that has to do with my trip? Who knows, but I’m not mad about it.
The summery floral scent itself evokes the memory of a summer day with rays of light, the heat of the sun and the taste of salt and sunscreen. Which was basically the entirety of our vacation. It layered so beautifully with the smell of the actual sunscreen layered all over my body. It even lasted after diving in the pool and salty ocean.
As science itself says, the correlation between scent and memory is seriously strong. And this gorgeous, joyful and sun-kissed smell proves just that. And JIC you needed any more convincing, my fiancé proposed (in the dead of winter!) while I was wearing this perfume. Just saying!
