Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley was keen to inspect guest Kerry Katona's newly reconstructed nose on Thursday's programme.

The ex-Atomic Kitten singer and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner joined Madeley and Ranvir Singh to discuss this corrective surgery after historical cocaine abuse destroyed Katona's septum. She has been clean for 14 years.

Madeley, who's no stranger to online backlash, subsequently left some viewers cringing as he sat next to the star for a good old nosey – if you'll excuse the pun. Katona didn't mind though and she even jokingly asked if Singh wanted to come sit next to her too.

Madeley asked Katona: "Can I sit next to you and have a really close look at it?"

"Oh come on Richard!" She responded.

"It looks so completely natural," Madeley complimented her. "I'm really close like four or five inches away."

Moments after, Singh asked: "Can I...?"

Katona cut in to ask: "Do you want to come sit here as well?" Then the good-natured star burst out laughing.

On a more serious note, Katona had explained to the presenters: "My nose was collapsing at the front and as you grow older, your ears and your nose get bigger.

"So mine was changing shape because of the passings and the way I still used to blow my nose, so they have taken cartilage from my rib to bring it back up and put my old nose how it used to be."

Opening up on how her past behaviours affect her five children, Katona also mentioned taking ownership of stories that are out there.

"Before I actually had my surgery, I had my 10-year-old with me and I showed her the hole. It's on the front cover of magazines, she's at that age. I'd rather my children hear it from me and know what I have been through. There's no burying children's heads in the sand and trying to protect them, the internet is everywhere. Hopefully I put them off for life!" She said.

Madeley was quick to voice his appreciation of her candidness, replying: "I have seen this in you before and I am seeing it here and so are the viewers, you haven't got an ounce of self-pity and you don't class yourself as a victim and it is so refreshing."

As Madeley made himself comfortable next to Katona, Good Morning Britain fans posting on X felt he had maybe gone a bit far this time as she was forced to tilt her head and give him a proper look.

"Madeley you cringey," wrote one individual, while somebody else asked: "why is richard all up in that woman's face?"

"Richard Madeley going full send [Alan] Partridge with Kerry Katona this morning," shared another.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
