Richard Morais says trying to protect Najib’s dignity

Datuk Richard Morais said he is challenging his brother’s statutory declaration because he wants to protect Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak from being implicated in the murder of deputy public prosecutor, Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais, reports Malaysiakini. “I want to defend Kevin and my prime minister’s dignity... because he (Najib) is also implicated in his (Charles) SD. “And he (Charles) is saying that Kevin gave it (evidence against Najib) to him. “It is a sin to implicate other people,” Richard told Malaysiakini. He, however, denied having any personal connection with Najib, although he planned to arrange a meeting with him. “I can go see him personally on my own accord, I don’t have to have connections with him,” he said. Brothers Richard and Charles have been feuding since the latter prepared an 18-page SD on the Morais brothers’ relationship and several discussions he had with Kevin prior to his murder. Charles, who lives in Atlanta, US, has voiced concerns over the vague findings in Kevin’s first post-mortem report and filed an application in court for a second post-mortem. However, Richard on the same day claimed Kevin’s body from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary without telling the family. Charles also told reporters that he was in possession of a pen drive Kevin had sent to him, which contained information that “implicates certain personalities who currently walk the corridors of power in Malaysia”. He also said he did not believe Kevin was killed for prosecuting a government pathologist for corruption. Kevin’s body was found in a cement-filled steel drum in a swamp in Taman Subang Mewah in USJ 1, Subang Jaya, 12 days after his abduction on September 4. Six men have been charged with Kevin’s murder, while pathologist Dr R. Kunasegaran has been charged with abetment. – November 29, 2015.
