The new voice actors for Rick and Morty have been confirmed.

Following the premiere of season seven last night (October 15), the show's end credits revealed that Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden are now the respective voices behind Rick and Morty.

While Adult Swim had decided to keep the official casting of Cardoni and Belden under wraps until now, the two actors were heard for the first time during the new season trailer, which dropped last month.

Back in August, executive producer Steve Levy spoke about the difficulties behind-the-scenes, praising the team for pushing forward with the new season.

"We had a rug pulled from underneath us. The only people we could lean on were each other. "It would have been very easy to just say: 'I'm done and I don't want to do anything with this show anymore'," he told the The LA Times.

"But this show is created by this team – this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going push through and show the world that we aren't going to miss a beat," he continued.

"The work that we're doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we'll focus on how amazing it all turned out. We hope the fans will realise that this is the same old show, maybe even better!"

The recast came after allegations of domestic battery against Justin Roiland, who had voiced both characters in the show, leading to the actor being dropped by Adult Swim.

The charges against Roiland were dismissed due to "insufficient evidence". The actor will also not be returning to Solar Opposites and Koala Man.

At the time the charges were dropped, Roiland said in a statement: "I have always known that these claims were false — and I never had any doubt that this day would come. I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process."

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim in the US, and on E4 in the UK.
