Robert De Niro, Blake Lively, Jude Law & More Attend Chanel Tribeca Artists Dinner
After countless years at Balthazar, the Chanel Tribeca Artists Dinner moved down to Tribeca to The Odeon on Monday night for the annual party.
The guest list was as starry as ever, including Robert De Niro, Blake Lively, Jude Law, Trevor Noah, Colman Domingo, Selma Blair, Olivia Munn, Katie Holmes, Lily Allen, Grace Gummer, Mark Ronson, Camila Mendes, Hari Nef, Jessica Capshaw, Louisa Jacobson, Lucy Hale, Dianna Agron, Hannah Einbinder, Lizzy Caplan, Lily Rabe, Chloe Fineman, Ella Hunt, Natasha Lyonne and Victoria Pedretti.

Blair is a juror at this year’s festival, in the Nora Ephron category. She and her service dog, Scout, were on hand at Friday’s Through Her Lens luncheon, where Scout picked up some stray French fries and got plenty of attention, Blair said.
“He loved it, there were all these ladies that loved petting him,” Blair said Monday night, as Scout sat beside her.
In addition to her packed schedule — she’s been attending three screenings a day — Blair was happy to be out and about at Chanel events. After all, she was close with Karl Lagerfeld.
“He made my wedding dress, and because at the time I really enjoyed wine, he made me the exact wedding dress in black so I could change for the reception,” she said. “And then I said to Karl, ‘oh but I really wanted a big gown,’ and he said ‘oh, the next one,’ — and it was true, I did get divorced.”
Jacobson had also been on hand for Friday’s lunch.
“I met Rachel Weisz who I’m such a fan of. And as a queer woman it’s just very special to meet someone like her who has brought so many women-loving-women stories to the world,” she said.
The actress has been busy assistant directing the play “Invasive Species” at the Vineyard and is also in prep to shoot the third season of “The Gilded Age.”
“They take a long time, like an hour and a half,” she said of the costume fittings. “They are involved — you are becoming a different person from a different time period.”
This year’s Tribeca Festival was the first time Mendes has been on the other side of things: she and best friend Rachel Matthews just launched their production company, Honor Role.
“It’s really cool to be on this side of things,” Mendes said. “You don’t feel the pressure anymore to be the face of it, but you get to uplift the people in it and make it about that rather than anything else.”
“It was a dream I had for years, ever since college, but I just never thought I’d take that step,” she added of starting Honor Role. “And I realized the only way to get me to take that step was to do it with my best friend, because it’s a lot to do on your own.”
Lively was the last to arrive due to her working schedule, offering apologies to the photographers who’d been waiting to shoot her.
“I should’ve bought Shake Shack to you or something,” she told them as they took her picture.
De Niro also proved to be squeezing the dinner in between work: when Jane Rosenthal made her remarks around 10 p.m., she noted that the actor had already snuck out: he had a 5:40 a.m. call time to make. The life of an artist!
