Roblox misses earnings estimates, stock plunges

Yahoo Finance's Ines Ferre examines Roblox's earnings miss as the company's stocks sink in after-hours trading.

BRAD SMITH: We've got some movement in afterhours on the tape. Roblox shares moving as of right now. And Yahoo Finance's Ines Ferre is standing by for those numbers. What is the reading, Ines?

INES FERRE: Well, Brad, taking a look at fourth quarter revenue, that came in at $568 million. That was a miss. Also, looking at loss per share, that came in at $0.25, a big miss there as well. Bookings coming in at 770.1 million. The estimate was for 786 million. Hours engaged coming in at 10.8 billion. The estimate was for 11.19 billion. So across the board, with these metrics at least, you are seeing a miss. And right now, shares are down in afterhours.

Year to date, shares are down 26%. This company, this is a play on the emerging Metaverse. And analysts would be paying attention to user numbers, the international growth, how each of these monetizes, and also brand offerings. But these metrics that we're looking at right now seem to be a miss, and shares are reacting.
