Royal News Roundup: The Fam Celebrates Trooping the Colour, Prince William Shares Sweet Moment With Charlotte & More

Here’s all the royal news you need to know for the week of June 22, 2023.

• In honor of Prince William’s birthday, the royal family posted a previously unreleased snap of the royal sharing a laugh with King Charles during the coronation rehearsal.

• King Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, unveiled their joint cypher to reflect the new monarchy. The ornate symbol features a representation of the crown and combines two Cs—the initials of the king and queen—with the letter “R” for Rex, which is Latin for “king.”

• On Father’s Day, King Charles surprised royal aficionados by sharing a photo of his youngest son, Prince Harry. The caption read, “To Dads everywhere, we wish you a special Father’s Day today.”

• Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, celebrated the holiday by posting a painting of their late dad, John Spencer.

• On Father’s Day, Prince William shared a brand-new portrait of himself and his three children: Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).

• Over the weekend, Kate Middleton attended Garter Day and wore a black and white polka dot dress that was reminiscent of a look Princess Diana wore in the 1980s.

• The Princess of Wales showed off her athleticism at the Maidenhead Rugby Club, where she participated in some drills before joining a scrimmage. Nigel Gillingham (President of the Rugby Football Union) admitted that he was impressed by Princess Catherine, who has been practicing rugby in the backyard with her three kids.

• Netflix recently added Meghan Markle’s legal drama, Suits, to its database, and the show has already claimed a spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows.

• The British royal family stepped out for the annual Trooping the Colour celebration in London. Following the parade, they returned to Buckingham Palace and appeared on the balcony for their iconic family photo.

• Prince Louis stole the show during the balcony appearance. He was photographed making silly faces and even pumping his fists in the air.

• During the parade, Princess Charlotte performed her signature wave while riding in a carriage. She was seated alongside brother Prince George, mom Princess Catherine and the Queen Consort.

• The Princess of Wales wore a stunning green dress by Singapore-born, Paris-based designer Andrew Gn. It featured long sleeves and blue appliqués that ran down the center.

• At one point, Princess Catherine went into parenting mode when she brushed the hair from Prince Louis's face.

• During the fly-past, Prince William shared a sweet moment with his daughter, Princess Charlotte. The Prince of Wales rested his hands on his daughter’s shoulders, and Princess Charlotte proceeded to hold her father’s hands.

• Buckingham Palace and the Royal Collection Trust shared a throwback photo of King Charles at his very first Trooping the Colour event.
