Higher rubbish collection fees will be levied from 1 January next year, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) on Monday (7 Nov).

The monthly rubbish collection fee will be increased to $8.25 for HDB flats and condominiums participating in the public waste collection scheme, up from S$7.49. Owners of landed homes will pay $27.47 per month, up from S$24.81. These fees are inclusive of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The new fees will represent an increase of between 10 and 11 per cent, and should be in place at least until their next review, scheduled for January 2019.
