Rudy Giuliani mug shot released after being processed in Arizona election interference case

Rudy Giuliani’s mug shot was published Monday after the former New York City mayor was processed in Arizona on criminal charges that he attempted to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

Giuliani paid a $10,000 bond to be released Monday, according to court records.

The former Trump attorney faces nine felony charges related to the fake elector scheme in Arizona, charged alongside 17 other people including fellow Trump attorneys John Eastman, Christina Bobb and Jenna Ellis as well as former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. All defendants pleaded not guilty.

The indictment alleges Meadows worked with other Trump campaign members to submit names of fake electors from Arizona and other states to Congress in a bid to keep Trump in office despite his November 2020 defeat.

Giuliani spokesperson Ted Goodman told The Associated Press that the charges against the former mayor are politically motivated.

“Mayor Rudy Giuliani — the most effective federal prosecutor in U.S. history — will be fully vindicated,” Goodman said. ”This is yet another example of partisan actors weaponizing the criminal justice system to interfere with the 2024 presidential election through outlandish charges against President Trump and anyone willing to take on the permanent Washington political class.”

Arizona officials had struggled to track Giuliani for weeks after the charges were filed to serve him the summons to appear, but he was eventually served last month following his 80th birthday celebration.

Arizona is the fourth state where charges have been brought in relation to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Trump has not been charged in Arizona but was referenced as an unindicted co-conspirator in the indictment.
