Rumer Willis loves watching her dad settle into his role as a grandfather.

While visiting New York City for her residency at the Café Carlyle, Rumer, 35, appeared on Today and spoke with host Hoda Kotb, 59, about how her dad Bruce Willis, 69, has been doing since her family announced his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.

The proud mom noted that loves watching her dad interact with her 13-month-old daughter Louetta, whom she shares with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

"He's so good. I actually got to see him right before I came out [to New York]," Rumer told Kotb. "And Lou is just starting to walk a little bit, and she was walking over to him, and it was so sweet."

"He's a girl dad, through and through. I saw him with my sisters, my little sisters," Rumer shared. "So you're seeing that all come back," Kotb added as Rumer nodded in agreement.

Bruce shares his older daughters Rumer, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 30, with ex-wife Demi Moore. He is also dad to daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, whom he shares with wife Emma Heming Willis.

“Honestly, seeing them with her, it almost unlocks all of these childhood memories because being a grandparent, I think, is the best," Rumer said of Bruce and Moore. "They have all of the love and joy without any of the responsibilities. They get to just spoil her.”

In May, Rumer spoke with PEOPLE and shared that while she's been hesitant to allow her daughter Louetta screen time, it's been a different story at her mom's house.

"I've been too scared to show her Moana because of all of the Instagram ads that I get about screen time," Rumer said. "They're like, 'Only 10 minutes of TV will shrink the gray matter in their brains,' and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh.'"

"Then I go over and my mom's like, 'I put on Moana,' and I was like, "What? No!' " she continued. "But I figure that's fine at Yaya's house."

Although Rumer said she hasn't yet "thought about" which movies of her mom or her dad's she wants to show Louetta when she gets older, the proud mom is more looking forward to her walking.

"I know walking is going to be crazy, and I'll be taking that back, but I can't wait because she's such a mover anyway," she said. "I want to be able to take her to the beach and run outside and run around in the grass. I think that would be so nice."
