RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Tia Kofi breaks silence on Hollyoaks role

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Tia Kofi has teased her upcoming Hollyoaks appearance.

The drag superstar will be making a festive visit to Chester for the annual fairy parade, where she's set to clash with the village's resident drag icon Anita Tinkle (Ross Adams).

Tia plays a heightened version of herself, with the villainy turned up a few levels! Ahead of these scenes airing, the drag queen revealed she's actually a long-time fan of the show.

"I had a wonderful time on set filming Hollyoaks," she said. "Considering the fact that I ran a Hollyoaks fan club at school, this was a really surreal moment for me. I’m looking forward to them writing me in as a semi-regular cast member, ideally a new McQueen.”

While Tia and Anita may clash off set, Hollyoaks star Ross Adams was full of praise for his scene-stealing co-star.

"I’m a huge fan of Drag Race and Tia Kofi was amazing in season 2 so I was so excited when I met her for the first time," Ross said. "It was like half 6 in the morning, we were both in makeup first because obviously it takes a lot of time to look that cheap.

"What I thought was really lovely was that Tia is a true Hollyoaks fan. She was so much fun to work with and her lines I found hilarious – she is so lovely in real life but her character is really mean! Her outfit as well is just unreal, she’s dressed as a fabulous glamourous elf, and her pigtails were so cute, a little bit of Britney going on, but pink.”

These scenes will be streaming online on Wednesday (December 20) from 7.30pm, before landing on E4 the following night (Thursday, December 21) at 7pm.

This won't the first time Hollyoaks has crossed over with Drag Race UK, as series 4 winner Danny Beard guest-starred earlier this year as part of Juliet Nightingale's send-off.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
