RuPaul's Drag Race spoilers follow.

RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 winner Sasha Colby has given details on her finale performance, which saw her lip-syncing to original track Goddess.

Speaking on Entertainment Weekly's podcast Quick Drag following her victory Colby explained that she chose to perform her final dance nearly nude as a "f**k you" to transphobia.

"It was a specific choice to be naked in these times," she explained. "I wanted them to see what they're trying to eradicate."

Colby is the second consecutive trans contestant to win the American show, taking the crown from season 14's Willow Pill, and third overall winner after Kylie Sonique Love won season six of All Stars.

She went on to explain that showcasing her trans identity on such a huge platform is important in the wake of conservative legislation in America, which includes banning drag shows in multiple states.

"With this legislation and everything happening, for me to represent Drag Race and such a huge conglomerate like MTV and be exactly what [conservatives] want to eradicate is so powerful," she continued.

"I understand the eyes on me, which is why I wanted to be naked. I wanted to normalise this trans body!

Colby also paid tribute to the trans community during her acceptance speech, after beating Luxx Noir London, Anetra and Mistress Isabelle Brooks to the crown.

"This goes to every trans person, past, present, and future. Because we are not going anywhere," she said, following her victory.

The episode also raised awareness about the anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation, as well as encouraging viewers to donate to the UCLA Drag Defense Fund.

RuPaul's Drag Race US airs on MTV in the US and WOW Presents Plus in the UK.
