Ruth Langsford is set to address her separation from Eamonn Holmes when she returns to Loose Women this month.

The 64-year-old presenter has been on a long break from the ITV show since the breakdown of her marriage came to light. She reportedly feels she "owes" viewers an explanation as she makes her comeback.

The couple announced their split in May, ending a 27-year relationship and 14 years of marriage. Langsford has so far stayed silent on the split but plans to talk about it on air, with no follow up interviews.

A source told MailOnline that although it will be tough for Ruth, she is a professional and understands she needs to explain her absence since April.

"Loose Women presenters have a history of discussing their marriage splits on air, and it's a very supportive environment," said the source.

"Ruth knows the viewers are deeply invested in her breakup, so she will address it for the first time on the show.

"The audience has shared in the highs and lows of her relationship..." the continued. "She feels she owes it to the viewers to say something. She will be surrounded by her close friends on the show and plans to move on after this, with no further interviews."

Holmes, 64, recently posted on Instagram about his ongoing health struggles, saying: "It's hard to stand up, but next my aim is to walk."

He attended the TRIC Awards last month, using a Zimmer as he headed to the stage to accept the award for Best Breakfast Show for his slot on GB News.

The broadcaster has been dealing with chronic back pain for years.

Reports suggest he is being comforted by Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old divorcee and mother of three, who is 22 years younger than him.

Langsford and Holmes share a 22-year-old son, Jack, while Eamonn has three other children, Declan, 35, Rebecca, 32, and Niall, 30, from a previous marriage.
