Ryan Reynolds joins ‘The View’ audience with his mom

Ryan Reynolds appeared on ABC’s “The View” Monday, but not as a guest.

The “Deadpool” star attended a taping of the program with his mother. No one seemed more surprised to see Reynolds in the audience than show’s host Whoopi Goldberg, whose workday went from good to better.

“You know, sometimes, you look up and you’re like, ‘Oh’ this is really great,” she said. “And then you look over and you go ‘Oh, snap! There’s Ryan Reynolds!'”

The camera then cut to Reynolds and his mom, Tammy Reynolds, sitting in the crowd.

“By the way, this is way less stressful than up there,” he joked from his seat.

According to Reynolds, his mom is visiting New York from Vancouver and wanted to see a taping of “The View,” which she said she watches daily. Reynolds joked that because his mother is capable of “unspeakable violence,” he made a call and arranged for them to visit ABC’s Upper West Side studio. He also kidded that he got tickets by saying he was “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively’s husband.

After a bit of banter between the Reynolds’s and “The View” panel, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin offered Tammy Reynolds a standing invite to visit the program any time.

The show ended with the movie star’s mom being asked to come on stage and deliver “The View” tagline “Take a little time to enjoy ‘The View.'”

Comedian Jo Koy was the celebrity guest viewers tuned in to see Monday.
