Rylan Clark has revealed a horrifying death threat he received from a member of staff at a hotel, who sickeningly said they would "slice your neck in your sleep".

The TV presenter and former X Factor star has spoken openly over the years about the abuse he has received from trolls, including homophobic comments and death threats.

Clark explained to the High Performance Podcast in a clip released on Instagram that most trolling doesn't bother him any more, but occasionally something gives him pause.

The 34-year-old said: "I don't care if someone calls me talentless. I don't care if someone says 'big tooth p***k'. I don't care. It's like: I've got money in the bank, I'm fine, babe.

"But when someone's saying 'I can see you currently on your balcony of your room, 401, and I've got a key card because I work here and I'm gonna slice your neck in your sleep', then you sit there and go 'f**k, that's a bit too much information that they know'."

Presented by Jake Humphrey and Professor Damian Hughes, the High Performance Podcast discusses the path to the top of various high-achieving individuals in the worlds of sport, arts and entertainment.

In a memoir released last year, he confessed that he tried to end his life at the apex of his problems.

He told This Morning in an interview in December that he "spiralled completely out of control" in the wake of the divorce.

Clark added: "I ended up having to be admitted somewhere because I was a threat to myself, that’s the most polite way to say it. I tried to do some stupid things."
