On Monday, June 3, the “Feather” singer, 25, announced the impending arrival of her new album, Short n’ Sweet, out Friday, Aug. 23.

The highly anticipated project’s announcement also included her LP’s cover artwork, which pictures the former teen actor’s long blonde hair cascading down her back and a dark red kiss mark on her left shoulder as she beams in the sunlight. News of Carpenter’s album comes a few days after fans spotted billboards of fan tweets in New York City and Los Angeles seemingly teasing her big news. The “On My Way” performer’s forthcoming project follows the gigantic success of her latest single, “Espresso,” which she performed live for the first time during her Coachella 2024 debut.

Carpenter also performed the runaway smash, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, during her debut Saturday Night Live performance on May 18, along with her songs "Feather" and "Nonsense.” The singer reflected on the career milestone on Instagram the following day by quoting lyrics from her latest hit, writing in a caption, “literally working late cuz I’m a singer.”

The Singular Act I artist also wrote, “@nbcsnl thank you for having us I’m sooooo not chill about it and never will be.”

Most recently, Carpenter joined Coldplay for a surprise performance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend on May 26 in Luton, England, where the two acts performed the rock band’s 2014 song "Magic.”

"We’ve been playing this, one Big Weekend since we were basically children,” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the crowd before introducing Carpenter, per a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

He added: “... What we’d like to do, to say thank you to you for being so wonderful for the whole three days is bring on a singer who’s much younger, more beautiful, more successful, better in every way, and sing a song of ours that is OK but make it really good.”

The “Vicious” singer then came out to a roar of cheers before harmonizing her vocals with the band.

Carpenter’s next album, her sixth full-length release, follows after 2022’s emails I can’t send, which she upgraded last year with a deluxe version titled emails I can’t send fwd.
