Sally Phillips has teased ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’ may be the “best yet”.

The 54-year-old actress is set to reprise her role as the titular heroine’s best friend Shazzer in the upcoming fourth film in the franchise, and she’s reassured fans the project won’t just be “a trip down nostalgia lane”.

She told Red magazine: “The script might be the best yet – definitely not just a trip down nostalgia lane.”

Sally feels lucky for her part in the series because she’s always had fun working with James Callis and Shirley Henderson, who play Tom and Jude.

She said: “In those films, the friends always have the best time, because you’ve got people to hang out with.

“There’s a lot of night shoots, when you’re just eating chocolate ‘til four in the morning, then running past in the back of shot.

“James, Shirley and I always laugh ourselves sick. We always feel like we’re in trouble.”

Sally’s comments echo recent remarks made by Hugh Grant, who is set to return as Daniel Cleaver.

Hugh - who didn't appear in the third film, 'Bridget Jones' Baby' - told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I'll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time."

The film will see Renee Zellweger's Bridget adjusting to life as a single mother following the death of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and Hugh was impressed with the depth of emotion he found in the script.

He said: "It's based on trying to bring up two children alone, and then [it's] all mixed up in the Bridget Jones comedy, so it is very sad, as well as very funny.

"It has me in tears."
