Sam Taylor-Johnson Wishes 'My Love' Aaron Taylor-Johnson a Happy 34th Birthday

Sam Taylor-Johnson is wishing her husband a happy birthday!

The Back to Black director marked Aaron Taylor-Johnson's 34th birthday on Thursday, June 13, by sharing three photos of the actor to Instagram. Two images show Aaron, who has been married to Sam, 57, since June 2012, leaping in the air on a sidewalk and into a body of water. A third picture in the post shows the Fall Guy star laying down on a New York City subway car, with a baseball cap blocking his face from view.

"Happy Birthday my love ♥️," Sam wrote in a caption to the photos. Minnie Driver also chimed in with a comment to wish the actor well, writing, "Happy Birthday Azza ! 🎈♥️ 🎈"

Sam and Aaron first met on the set of Sam's 2009 feature directorial debut Nowhere Boy, in which Aaron, then 18, portrayed a young John Lennon in a movie about the late Beatle's famous years. Sam divorced her first husband, art dealer Jay Jopling, in 2008 after 11 years of marriage; the former couple share two daughters, now 26 and 17.

Sam and Aaron, who got engaged in 2009, told Harper's Bazaar in 2019 that Aaron proposed to Sam exactly one year after they first met on Nowhere Boy's set. "We were very professional through the entire film. ... But everyone on set knew," Sam said of their romance at that time. "And as soon as we finished, he told me he was going to marry me. We had never been on a date, or even kissed."

The couple share two daughters, Wylda Rae, 13, and Romy Hero, 12, whom they welcomed before they tied the knot in an June 2012 wedding ceremony in England. They also combined their surnames at the time of their wedding to share the name Taylor-Johnson.

While they largely remain private about their life together, Sam opened up about public fascination with their relationship while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in April. “There are times where it’s uncomfortable,” she said at the time. “Most of the time we zone it out and stay pretty private. We tend to retreat. Kids and school runs keep you pretty grounded."

Aside from persistent rumors that he may be the next actor to portray James Bond, Aaron has a number of projects in the works or scheduled to release in the coming months. He is set to star in an upcoming remake of Nosferatu, as well as in the superhero movie Kraven the Hunter and Rothko, each currently scheduled to release in 2024. Deadline also reported in April that Aaron will costar in 28 Years Later, a sequel to 2002's 28 Days Later.
