Everyone's favorite coven could be back for another dose of magic. According to Entertainment Weekly, Warner Bros. announced that it was working on a sequel to 1998's Practical Magic, and that stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in talks to reprise their roles as the Owens sisters. The two played Sally and Gillian Owens in the original film, which has become a cult-favorite movie, especially with its now-iconic midnight margaritas scene.

The original film was based on a novel by Alice Hoffman and chronicled the sisters dealing with a family curse that caused their lovers to meet an untimely death. The film—which earned $68 million worldwide—has such a huge following, in fact, that back when Max was still HBO Max, there were talks of a prequel series centered around Sally and Gillian's aunts, Franny and Jet, who were originally played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. However, no updates have been shared regarding that project and EW presumes that it's been canceled entirely.

While there are no details on what the sequel could cover, Hoffman has written multiple books in the Practical Magic universe. The most recent, The Book of Magic: A Novel, was released in 2021. EW notes that both Kidman and Bullock would also be producing the new film and that it would be based on a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who worked on the 1998 movie.

Kidman has a full schedule for the time being, meaning that fans will have to wait for a Practical Magic sequel. The Oscar winner is starring in Netflix's A Family Affair, out June 28, and is also teasing a return to Big Little Lies. She also has roles in the next seasons of Lioness and Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. Bullock is set to start production on Vigilance, a remake of the French-language thriller Le Convoyeur.
