Sara Malakul Lane joins "Kickboxer"

7 Dec – The upcoming "Kickboxer" remake has found its leading lady in the form of Thai-English supermodel-cum-actress Sara Malakul Lane.

Lane will be playing the "leading character's love interest", ComingSoon.net reports, and the movie is set to be helmed by this year's "Cat Run 2" director, John Stockwell.

While it was previously reported that Tony Jaa will be starring in the remake, the "Ong Bak" actor has reportedly stepped out of the ring. However, original "Kickboxer" starrer Jean-Claude Van Damme has now stepped in as the main character once again.

"Kickboxer" follows Eric and Kurt Sloan, the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. When Eric was murdered by Muay Thai champion Tong Po, Kurt vows to avenge his brother's death. He trains with his brother's mentor, Xian Chow, to prepare himself for a Muay Thai fight to the death with Tong Po.

Filming has begun this week in two locations, which are New Orleans, Louisiana and Thailand. There is currently no release date set for "Kickboxer".

Lane, who has appeared in a number of films such as 2010's "Sharktopus" and 2013's "Jailbait", this year appeared in "Jurassic City", "Pernicious" and "Pretty Perfect". The Thai beauty will be seen next in her 2015 movies "Blue Line", "Scouts vs. Zombies" and "Cowboys vs Dinosaurs".
