AEW's Satnam Singh has revealed why he chose the newer wrestling company over the more established WWE.

Singh made his debut on last Wednesday's edition of AEW Dynamite after Samoa Joe defeated Minoru Suzuki for the Ring of Honor Television Championship in the show's main event.

The 7 foot 2, former NBA player was brought in by former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt, who had promised they had a gift for Joe.

Speaking to Ruby Arora, Singh, said that he decided to sign with AEW in September 2021 so he could make history as their first Indian wrestler

"I had given trials for WWE as well and I liked it very much as well and I liked AEW as well," Singh said.

"AEW is, like, brand new. It's only been a couple of years, right? And it's really fire. I thought that if I go to AEW, I would be the first again.

"First wrestler from India. I will make another history for India in AEW."

Singh continued: "If I go into WWE, that would be amazing but amazing, why? Because they already have Indian people over there, they have Indian wrestlers.

"Why don't I go start there where there are no Indian guys and create history again after reaching there? Not for me, for the Indian wrestlers. For everyone.”

Singh has, of course, drawn comparisons to Indian WWE Superstar The Great Khali, who stands at 7 ft 1.

During his WWE career, Khali garnered a huge Indian fanbase and won the WWE Championship once. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year.
