Scrapped Disney+ series gets new streaming home
Nautilus has found itself a new streaming home at AMC after originally being scrapped by another network.
According to TVLine, the British drama series, which was commissioned by Disney+ then scrapped in order to cut costs, has been picked up by AMC.
Inspired by the Jules Verne novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, the 10-episode live-action series is set to air at some point in 2024.
The series "tells the origin story of the iconic Captain Nemo, an Indian prince robbed of his birthright and family" who becomes "a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him".

Speaking of the series, AMC Networks and AMC Studios Executive Vice President of Original Programming Ben Davis said in a statement: "Nautilus is a big, sweeping drama that is sure to appeal to fans of our Anne Rice Immortal Universe and other buzzy and fan-forward series like Orphan Black: Echoes. We are looking forward to bringing it to AMC+ and AMC as a special television event next year."
Meanwhile, executive producer, creator and writer James Dormer opened up about the move to AMC saying he is excited to air Nautilus on the "prestigious network".
"I am hugely excited that the efforts of everyone involved in the making of the show will be seen on such a prestigious network," Dormer said.

Taking on the lead role of Captain Nemo is Star Trek: Discovery star Shazad Latif, who will be joined by Wentworth actress Georgia Flood, Emily in Paris star Céline Menville and Das Boot's Thierry Fremont.
The series, which is directed by Michael Matthews, will also boast guest appearances from some big stars including Withnail and I actor Richard E. Grant, The Last of Us star Anna Torv and Preacher's Noah Taylor.
Nautilus is yet to receive a release window.
