Scrapyard fire contained with crews scaled back
Firefighters have worked through a second night to contain a fire which spread through 3,000 tonnes of scrap metal.
The fire broke out at the yard on Greenway Lane in Buriton near Petersfield on Monday at about 12:30 BST producing a large plume of smoke.
At its height more that 40 firefighters were sent to tackle the fire in the huge pile of scrap metal.
The fire service said two fire engines and support vehicles were now left at the site.
It said with the fire now contained road closures near the scrapyard were starting to be lifted.
Firefighters have been separating the metal with onsite machinery to create fire breaks to stop the fire spreading.
The fire halted trains South Western Railway temporarily between Petersfield and Havant on Monday.
The line reopened by mid-afternoon with services having to run at reduced speed.
