Jessica Lange is back in the Ryan Murphy-verse for Feud season 2.

The executive producer announced weeks ago his longtime muse for a role in Feud: Capote Vs. the Swans, which chronicles the spectacular strife between writer Truman Capote (The White Lotus actor Tom Hollander) and his so-named "Swans" of New York high society, such as Babe Paley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), and C.Z. Guest (Chloë Sevigny). Lange has since been revealed in the first trailer, which arrived Wednesday ahead of the show's Jan. 31 return to FX.

Lange's role in season 2 has yet to be revealed, although she's seen in the trailer palling around with Hollander's Capote and Demi Moore's Ann Woodward (another of the Swans). Lange previously starred in Feud season 1 as Joan Crawford opposite Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis.

Feud: Capote Vs. the Swans takes place around the 1975 publication of an excerpt from Capote's planned book Answered Prayers. From the pages of Esquire magazine, the famed Breakfast at Tiffany's and In Cold Blood author wrote about the lavish and scandalous lives of women in high society. However, the characters were so thinly veiled that it became instantly clear to everyone that Capote was airing the dirty laundry of some of his most high-profile friends. As a result, the Swans sought to oust Capote from society. "And that will kill him," Lane's Slim warns in the footage.

The trailer shows new looks at other prominent figures in the orbit of this tale, including other Swans Lee Radziwill (Calista Flockhart) and Joanne Carson (Molly Ringwald), as well as Treat Williams as Babe's husband Bill Paley, Joe Mantello as Jack Dunphy, and Russell Tovey as John O’Shea.

Jon Robin Baitz wrote Feud: Capote Vs. the Swans and serves as showrunner, while Gus Van Sant, Max Winkler, and Jennifer Lynch direct the episodes.

“I kept looking at it as a multifaceted examination of what it is to squander your life inadvertently, accidentally, deliberately, self-destructively, on so many different levels,” Baitz previously told EW of the season. “I found it to be a cautionary tale and an accurate representation of what can happen when you're not listening to yourself. Your life becomes about your name on the invitation to the gala, your collections, your standing in a society where you are within a system. The show very much is, for me, about the profound loneliness of beauty and fame.”

The first two episodes premiere on FX Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. They will then stream on Hulu the next day.
