Selma Blair has revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August.
The “Cruel Intentions” star wrote in a lengthy Instagram post Saturday that she decided to share the news after a two-day wardrobe fitting for her Netflix show “Another Life,” saying that the show’s costumer, Allisa Swanson, not only designs what her character wears, but also helps her dress.
“She carefully gets my legs in my pants, pulls my tops over my head, buttons my coats and offers her shoulder to steady myself. I have #multiplesclerosis,” Blair wrote.
Although she added that the symptoms of the disease are worsening, it’s not stopping her from living her life.
“By the grace of the lord, and will power and the understanding producers at Netflix, I have a job,” she wrote. “A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
Blair went on to say that she has had symptoms for years and is, at least, relieved to know what she’s dealing with.
“I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others. And even to myself,” Blair wrote. “I am a forthcoming person and I want my life to be full somehow. I want to play with my son again. I want to walk down the street and ride my horse. I have MS and I am ok.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the “immune system attacks the sheath that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body.” An estimated 2.3 million people live with MS, which affects more women than men.

The location where the bodies were recovered, close to the town of Santo Tomas in Baja California state, is near where the men went missing, Mexican authorities said.
