Seven weeks of footpath repairs for Lincoln
A start date has been announced for seven weeks of footpath repair works in Lincoln.
A "deteriorated" section of footpath on Hykeham Road will be replaced and repairs are planned to vehicle access routes and crossing points.
The project, costing £400,000, will take place from Monday to Fridays, beginning on 5 July and scheduled to end on 30 August.
Lincolnshire County Council said the start date had been timed to avoid disruption on polling day for the general election.
A one-way road flow will be in place for the duration of the work with Hykeham Road open for traffic going towards Lincoln only.
There will be no access to Hykeham Road via Newark Road and a diversion route will include Newark Road, Moor Lane and Lincoln Road.
Karen Cassar, assistant director of highways for Lincolnshire County Council said: "This is an important set of works that will replace a large section of footpath that has deteriorated and give better accessibility.
"We have been able to schedule these works to begin on July 5, so that there will be less disruption during voting for the general election."
She added: "It’s worth saying also that we are completing Hykeham Road footpath works in stages and will be returning over subsequent summer periods to complete the reconstruction works, finally reaching Hykeham Moor Lane crossroads.
"Following on from the Hykeham Road footpath reconstruction works, we will rebuild the flagged footways on Wallis Avenue, St. Margaret's Garden and Southland Drive."
