Severance season 2 shuts down production in New York amid writers' strike
Severance has shut down production on season 2 amid the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike in the US. The strike, which began last week, has come as the WGA is calling for better residual payments for writers, especially with the rise of streaming.
A number of shows and movies have stopped production as a result, with filming on season 2 of the Apple TV+ workplace drama starring Adam Scott among them in New York.
The WGA East Twitter account confirmed yesterday (May 8): "WGA members on strike walk the line for a sunrise picket at York Studios in the Bronx and Westchester, shutting down production on Severence, as members of IATSE and Teamsters respect our picket line."

The halt on production due to the strike comes after unrelated reports recently emerged claiming Severance season 2 could be delayed amid behind-the-scenes drama on the series.
There were allegations of a fallout between co-showrunners Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman, as well as script and budget issues, though TVLine notes that a source close to Apple said the reports were inaccurate.
Furthermore, director and producer Ben Stiller has also disputed the claims, tweeting: "No one's going to the break room. We're on the same really slow schedule we've always been on.

"Same target air date we've always had. Love our fans and each other and we all are just working to make the show as good as possible."
Meanwhile, other shows that have been affected by the writers' strike include Daredevil: Born Again and Stranger Things, which have both shut down production, while on the movie side of things, Marvel's Blade reboot has been temporarily shelved.
Severance is streaming now on Apple TV+.
