Heavy rains flooded streets in several districts of Kyiv on June 12, causing traffic jams and major disruptions to public transportation across the capital and in at least five other Ukrainian oblasts.

Videos posted on social media showed flooded streets in the Vaclav Havel, Vasylenko, and Industrial Bridge areas of Kyiv's Solomyanskyi district, while the City State Administration confirmed flooding in three other districts: Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.

The Kyiv Operativ Telegram channel also reported flooding in the Sviatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, near the Dorohozhychi metro station, with cars struggling to navigate the high water, causing traffic jams.

Kyivpastrans, the capital's municipal transport authority, warned of delays in trams and buses due to flooded roads and water accumulation.

The Ukrainian weather center predicted significant rainfall throughout the day.

The bad weather also caused power outages affecting 38,000 consumers in nearly 240 settlements across six oblasts and Kyiv. The Energy Ministry reported that most of the affected settlements were in Kyiv Oblast, as well as in Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, and Sumy oblasts.

In addition to the flooding and power outages, there were numerous reports of accidents and traffic disruptions. On Yuriy Kondratyuk Street in Kyiv, a damaged power pole fell onto the roadway, causing a blockage.

Local authorities are working to clear the flooding and minimize the impact of the weather by dispatching road crews to the affected areas.
