Celebrity stylist Dianne Vavra, owner of VAVRA New York boutique, is sharing how to rev up your holiday look with a vintage twist.

The former Dior Beauty SVP — who headed up beauty, press and celebrity relations for the luxury brand for two decades— gave PEOPLE some easy tips to create instant Hollywood glam, mainly just by using accessories.

"I always found time to vintage shop during my globetrotting days," Vavra tells PEOPLE of her longtime passion for collecting unique pieces. "Every vintage piece has a story."

Vavra says she learned beauty and fashion "tips and tricks" by observing top stylists and makeup artists on shoots.

"I love passing that knowledge on to my customers, it makes my shop unique," shares Vavra, who opened her doors last year. "I also offer private appointments where customers can bring in outfits from home that I help style."

Film and style icon Sharon Stone, who worked with Vavra at Dior, is a fan of the style pro's overall aesthetic, telling PEOPLE. "Dianne has such great taste and is a lovely person. Going to her shop is like going to a party."

Rizzoli & Isles actress Angie Harmon also supports her creative director pal's new endeavor.

"Dianne V has the most fabulous vintage finds and she has always had the most stylish eye!" Harmon tells PEOPLE. "I love her new boutique. It’s exquisite... just like her!"

Vavra, who has been featured in The New York Times for her street-style swagger over the years, says that one of the easiest ways to update any outfit is to "pile on a bunch of vintage cocktail rings."

"Even if it's with your everyday jogger set," she notes, suggesting to "throw on some boots to elevate the look from day to dinner."

Another way to glam up your daytime vibe or cocktail look, Vavra says, is by "stacking three or four rhinestone bracelets on each arm with a sweater, tee shirt or gown."

And carrying a "unique, one-of-a-kind vintage handbag or clutch always works as a conversation starter at any party."

"Add a fancy vintage chain or long necklace to transform your basic foldover clutch or wallet into a shoulder bag or cross-body bag," she says of her innovative upgrade.

Another unique pro tip is to "repurpose a vintage cigarette case into a business card carry case. It adds a level of chicness and elegance when handing someone a card — especially when your fingers are adorned with cocktail rings."

For bonus points, "Always keep a vintage makeup compact in your bag. Nothing says glamour more than applying your lipstick or gloss while looking into a bejeweled compact."

Then, round out your "effortlessly chic" look by tying "a vintage sparkly broach to the hair tie on your messy bun or pony" to enhance your new starlet vibes.

Once you're ready to head out the door, "Throw a stunning vintage coat over the look whether it be jeans or a cocktail dress for an elegant edge," Vavra says of achieving an instant A-list appearance.

Emily in Paris star Kate Walsh, who shares a similar vision with her friend Vavra, tells PEOPLE she has "always loved vintage" and "started collecting pieces in the 1980s" in vintage and secondhand shops in Tucson, Chicago and New York City.

"Dianne has long had exquisite taste and exceptional style and I'm so excited for this new chapter and the treasure trove that is VAVRA NYC!"
