Shohei Ohtani named one of People magazine's sexiest men in sports

MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani was named one of People Magazine’s sexiest men in sports for 2023.

Showtime for Shohei: People revealed on Wednesday that Ohtani, 29, was ranked No. 15 out of 21 in the magazine's sexiest men list for 2023.

Other MLB stars who made the roster include the Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts, 31, and free agent Cody Bellinger, 28, who placed 16 and 17, respectively. NFL star Travis Kelce, 34, of the Kansas City Chiefs took the No. 1 spot on People’s list.

Ohtani enters agency: While Ohtani officially entered unrestricted free agency on Monday, the Angels have already extended their $20.32 million qualifying offer to the two-way phenom. The teams and players only have until Nov. 14 to reject or accept the qualifying offers.

Ohtani ended his 2023 regular season with the Angels following back-to-back injuries. He first tore his ulnar collateral ligament on Aug. 23 and then suffered an oblique injury during batting practice in early September.

Other Asians in the list: Besides Ohtani, other stars of Asian descent who made People’s sexiest men in sports list include Korean soccer star Son Heung-min, 31, at No. 8 and Japanese American 2022 ISA World Surfing Games gold medalist Kanoa Igarashi, 26.
