To facilitate further railway maintenance and improvement works, seven MRT stations along the North South Line (NSL) will close earlier and open later on weekends next month, said rail operator SMRT on Thursday (19 April).

The affected MRT stations – from Khatib to Novena – will close earlier, at around 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays; and will open later, at around 8am, on Saturdays and Sundays.

The additional hours will “more than double the available time for engineering teams to intensify maintenance and accelerate rectification works along the NSL’s MRT tracks”, said SMRT.

During the closures, commuters can travel on the NSL between Jurong East and Yishun MRT stations, and between Newton and Marina South Pier MRT stations.

The rail operator added that two bus services will serve as alternative travel options for affected commuters.

Shuttle Bus Service 9 will operate between Yishun and Newton MRT Stations, stopping at designated pick-up and drop-off points near the affected stations. Express Bus Service 16, which travels between Ang Mo Kio and Serangoon MRT Stations, will allow commuters to directly connect to the North East Line and Circle Line.
