Silo season 2's filming has been indefinitely postponed amid the Hollywood strikes.

Actors and writers in the US are currently on strike – the first time that both have done so simultaneously since 1960 – which has affected a wealth of TV and movie projects.

The latest to be hit is Apple TV+'s Silo, which according to Deadline had already planned to take a pause in filming in the UK this week to switch over its sets. It has now emerged that production will go on hiatus for the foreseeable future.

Silo, which stars Mission: Impossible's Rebecca Ferguson, is set in a dystopian future where a community lives in a giant silo, and debuted back in May to great acclaim.

The show packs an impressive wider cast too, including Common (The Chi), Harriet Walter (Succession), Chinaza Uche (Dickinson), Avi Nash (The Walking Dead), David Oyelowo (Selma), Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) and Tim Robbins (Mystic River).

Last month, the series was renewed for a second season, with Silo's screenwriter and showrunner Graham Yost saying in a statement: "Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it's an honour to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo."

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, added: "It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple's number one drama series.

"As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two."

Silo season one is available to stream now on Apple TV+.
