Singapore Airlines named world's best airline at TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards
Singapore Airlines (SIA) was named Best Airline in the World for the second year running by travel website TripAdvisor in its annual Travellers’ Choice awards released on Tuesday (2 April).
This is the third year in the website has held the awards. It chose its winners in 10 major categories – including best hotels, beaches and restaurants – by using an algorithm that determines the quantity and quality of airline reviews and ratings submitted by travellers across the world over a 12-month period.
For the best airlines category, the top airlines were selected based on reviews by global travellers focusing on outstanding service, quality and value. Qatar Airways came in second, while EVA Air was third.
In awarding SIA the accolade, Bryan Saltzburg, president of TripAdvisor Flights, Cruise and Car, said, “This is a testament to outstanding service, world-renowned quality and amazing value. The Singapore Airlines team should be proud of their award, as travellers around the globe have said this airline is among their preferred carriers when choosing to fly.”
SIA also name airline with best economy class
SIA was also named the airline with the best economy class experience by TripAdvisor. Emirates earned the Best First Class accolade, while Qatar Airways clinched the award for best business-class airline.
SIA chief executive officer Goh Choon Pong said, “We are very pleased to be back-to-back winner of the Best Airline in the World accolade in these prestigious awards. We wish to thank our customers for their ongoing support, as well as our staff from all around the world who go the extra mile every day to deliver the best travel experience to our customers.”
Meanwhile, Universal Studios Singapore was ranked No. 19 by TripAdvisor in the Best Attractions category.

Best landmark: Angkor Wat (Siem Reap, Cambodia)
Best museum: Musee d’Orsay (Paris, France)
Best restaurant: Au Crocodile (Strasbourg, France)
