Nurse Day celebrations continue with World Gourmet Summit
SINGAPORE - Remember back then when we stood at our windows and clapped for nurses?
Instead of doing that, World Gourmet Summit (WGS) has rallied nine F&B establishments to prepare lunch treats for almost 70 nurses at Metta Home for Disabled over between 2 to 13 August. This marks a continual celebration of the official Nurse Day in Singapore, first established on 1 August 1965.
Unlike other countries, Singapore celebrates Nurse Day in August instead of 12 May, which marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, often referred to as the founder of modern nursing.
For Singapore, 1 August has more significance as it marks the beginning of the development of the nursing sector in the country.
Nurses in the Metta Home for Disabled will be able to enjoy a variety of cuisines ranging from Malay-Asian, Western Fusion to Indian and Japanese. The following establishments will be preparing a total of 600 meals and making lunch deliveries to the nursing home over the next few days.
Sentosa Gold Club
The Malayan Council
Allspice
Royal Palm
The Spot
Takayama
Punjab Grill
Elfuego
