Singapore is second to last in Time Out survey of most exciting cities
Singapore has emerged as the 31st most exciting city in the world out of a survey of 15,000 people in 32 cities by British travel magazine Time Out.
“The city-state of Singapore was the worst rated city we surveyed for culture, and the worst for drinking apart from Dubai. But it scored well for safety and public transport, and it has a much buzzier restaurant scene than other cities towards the bottom of the ranking,” Time Out said.
According to the Time Out City Life Index 2018, which was done in collaboration with Tapestry Research, Chicago was crowned the most exciting city in the world. This is thanks to its “outstanding food and bar scene”, while the city also scores above average when it comes to “happiness, culture, affordability, city pride and how people feel about their neighbourhood”.
The Portugese city of Porto – “the best place in the world for making friends (and) finding love” – came second, while New York – “culture, nightlife, eating and drinking” – finished third.
The other cities surveyed included Tel Aviv (most hedonistic), Bangkok (the world’s street food capital) and Washington DC (the most singles playing the dating game).
