Remember the actress who dominated all those Channel 8 girl-next-door roles in the 90s?

Evelyn Tan is back in the spotlight as the first Singaporean celebrity ambassador for German skincare label, frei öl (pronounced ‘fry-ool’). The label is known in its home country for the massage oils it produces for pregnant women.

As the brand’s ambassador, Tan shared some of her secrets to looking young while still finding the time to be a mother to her four children.

“To keep my sanity, I believe in small indulgences to pamper myself. Rather than an elaborate full-day spa, it can be little things like filing my nails and putting on a treatment serum or body cream – doable within five to 10 minutes. I’d urge mummies and busy women to try to form this habit. Just work in five more minutes after your shower for skincare,” she said.

The 43-year-old star, along with her husband, actor Darren Lim, and their four children, completed a six-month sailing expedition from Singapore to Phuket and Koh Samui last year. Sharing her travel beauty tips, Tan said, “I never believe in travelling light when it comes to skincare. I can live without my makeup kit but the skincare stays!”

Asked about how she juggles her beauty routine with being a mother, she said, “For mothers especially, it’s easy to forget to breathe. But I have found that when I allow time for my needs to be taken care of, many other things fall into place and I can then truly appreciate the beauty around me.”

Products from frei öl are available at all Guardian outlets in Singapore as well as online at RedMart, Lazada and Amazon Prime Now.
