SINGAPORE - Sweet-tooth lovers rejoice: The first-ever official guidebook for desserts in Singapore is set to be launched this year.

Titled "Sweet Spots", the book is part of an initiative by the Museum of Ice Cream to showcase the best spots for dessert across the island, as part of Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) SingapoReimagine Marketing Programme.

Local favourites such as chendol and ice kacang will be included in the guidebook, as well as dessert spots across traditional hawker centres, cafes, patisseries and fine dining establishments.

"We hope that Sweet Spots will create a community of dessert lovers, people who will enthusiastically seek out the best dessert spots and share about the local dessert scene, be it to other Singaporeans, or tourists," said Pirakash T, the Asia-Pacific head of the Museum of Ice Cream.

"Sweet Spots also allows us to celebrate and recognise the hard work of local dessert providers, and for them to enjoy that recognition and publicity.”

Public nomination campaign

As part of the publicity campaign to build up interest for the book, the Museum of Ice Cream is inviting locals to nominate and vote for their favourite local desserts and dessert places.

Selected dessert establishments will receive a coveted SPOONS award at a gala party and award ceremony to be held in September. These award winners will showcase their desserts to the public at the Museum of Ice Cream on National Desserts Day on 14 October.

Meanwhile, 50 pairs of tickets to the Museum of Ice Cream will also be given to lucky participants in the nomination campaign.

Public nomination and voting is open and will wrap up by 10 May.
