“Sister Wives”: Garrison Brown's Sister Maddie Honors Brother After Death Saying 'Grief Is Just Love'

Janelle and Kody Brown's daughter said the family will be living "in a more gray world without the light" her late brother Garrison brought "till we meet again"

Maddie (Brown) Brush is honoring her brother Garrison Brown nearly a week after his death.

In an Instagram post, the daughter of Sister Wives’ Janelle and Kody Brown shared an emotional note about grief. She began with a quote by Jamie Anderson: “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All the unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hallow of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”

Maddie shared her thoughts on Garrison’s unexpected death at 25 following the quote. “My words seem to fall short. Our hearts our [sic] broken and we are now swallowed with the love now left behind for this beautiful brother. 🩵 God be with you till we meet again,” she wrote. “I’ll see you at the gates of Valhalla, feasting with our ancestors who battled before you. Until then, we must live in a more gray world without the light you brought.”

A photo of Garrison alongside Maddie’s two oldest children accompanied the photo.

Garrison died of an apparent suicide on March 5. Janelle, 54, confirmed his death by posting a joint statement with her ex, 55, on Instagram that read: "Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory." 

Meri Brown later reposted the same message, substituting “Kody and I” for “Our family.” Christine Brown posted days later with a sweet tribute to Garrison as a big brother.

“Garrison was a wonderful, caring brother who understood Truely’s need for a hobby and built her a flowerbed,” she shared, including a video of Garrison building a raised garden bed. “We’ll miss him forever.”
