Sisters finish bowel cancer fundraising challenge
Two sisters have run more than 150 miles between them to raise money for a bowel cancer charity in memory of their mother.
Harriett Moore and Esther Mortimer from Kidderminster, Worcestershire, took on the Bowelbabe Fund's Jog 31 Miles Challenge in tribute to their mother, Jane Morris, who died of bowel cancer in 2014.
Speaking to BBC Radio H&W on the last day of the challenge, Ms Moore said: "Esther started running very very seriously, she took on the challenge as being a run at least 100 miles in May challenge.
"She's currently at 100 miles. I am on mile 30 dressed as a flamingo."
Ms Moore, who has raised more than £1,600 for the Bowelbabe Fund, which supports Cancer Research UK, added: "I lost my mother to bowel cancer in December 2014.
"She hadn't noticed any symptoms before she was diagnosed, and the cancer was advanced by that point.
"My mother always maintained after her diagnosis that there seemed to be a lot of awareness of other cancers, but that bowel cancer was rarely discussed."
The Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK was set up to continue the legacy of Dame Deborah James, otherwise known as Bowelbabe, a bowel cancer campaigner who died in 2022 at the age of 40.
