SM Entertainment has come out to clarify that popular Korean pop group Girls’ Generation is not disbanding after three members’ contracts were not renewed.

Three members of the eight member girl group – Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun – were reported as leaving the company to focus on their acting careers. Remaining members Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yoona, and Yuri will be renewing their contracts.

Calling Girls’ Generation a “very precious and meaningful group” to the company and to fans, SM Entertainment said on 9 October, “The members are not thinking to disband. However, there are members whose contracts have come to an end. The direction of Girls’ Generation’s promotions will be carefully decided after discussion with the members.”

The group recently released a full length album entitled Holiday Night in August to mark their 10-year anniversary. They last performed in Singapore in 2011 in two sold-out concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
