Sofía Vergara is reminiscing about Kevin Hart‘s appearance on Modern Family.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, the Griselda star, 51, cheekily joked about being relieved she didn’t have to spend time with Hart, 44, during his cameo on the sitcom back in 2012.

“I was lucky because I wasn’t in that scene,” Vergara told host Graham Norton, as Hart sat alongside her. “I didn’t really see him that day, it was [Modern Family costar] Phil Dunphy. But I knew he was there in that episode. And it was great to have him in one episode — I was in 11 seasons,” she joked.

“It was, you know, one of my favorite things to do in the whole world because it was like going to work with my family and it was amazing,” the actress continued, before poking fun at the comedian and actor once again, “ — And that day that [Hart] went I wasn’t there, so it really doesn’t make any difference in my life.”

Vergara famously played Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family during its 11 season-run before concluding in 2020. Hart, meanwhile, appeared twice on the sitcom in season three as neighbor Andre in the episodes “Treehouse” (2011) and "Planes, Trains, and Cars" (2012).

On a more serious note on the show, Vergara discussed the “heartbreaking” moment when the original cast said goodbye after the final season.

“We were all very, very sad, because, you know, it's the people you want to see everyday and you do get separated when you finish,” Vergara said.

“Also, the day that we ended Modern Family, two weeks later, the pandemic happened. So we didn’t see each other. Like really, it was just like, oh suddenly we don’t see each other anymore. It was really hard.”

Vergara shared that nowadays she connects with the cast “everytime we can.”

“I still connect with a lot of them,” Hart jokily added. “We still talk. Because they say … my episode was one of the best!”

The pair continued  to make fun of each other on the show, as Hart, went onto explain the premise of his in the new action film Lift. After chatting for a while, Vergara said, “It took you a long time, huh!”

“What?” responded Hart. “You know what? In this one, I’m not the Kevin you knew of old. I’m big, I’m a leading man.”

“Good for you, but you took a long time,” Vergara added.

“You should start respecting me more, now that I’m an action star,” Hart said as the audience laughed. “I’m not the Kevin from Modern Family. Things have changed!”
