Sony Pictures International Teams With Eagle Pictures on Italian Thriller ‘The Body’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Sony Pictures International Productions and Italy’s Eagle Pictures have announced psychological thriller “Il Corpo” (“The Body”), starring Claudia Gerini (“John Wick: Chapter 2”), as part of their local co-production partnership.
Principal photography recently wrapped on the film, which is co-written by its director Vincenzo Alfieri (“Mad Dog”) with Giuseppe G. Stasi, who recently made a splash in Italy as the writer and co-director of hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Bad Guy.”

Gerini (pictured in the first-look image above) plays a rich entrepreneur named Rebecca Zuin whose death, due to an alleged heart attack, raises suspicions on the part of a police inspector played by Giuseppe Battiston (“Perfect Strangers”) after her body disappears from the morgue. When her handsome young husband, played by Andrea Di Luigi (“Nuovo Olimpo”), becomes a suspect, he starts thinking she may have faked her death to sadistically torment him.
“We are delighted to bring another production to Italy as we continue to expand our portfolio in this growing market,” said Shebnem Askin, EVP, creative production and head of Sony Pictures International Productions, in a statement. “‘Il Corpo’ is a project we are proud of and one we had the absolute pleasure to produce alongside Tarak Ben Ammar and his incredible team at Eagle Pictures.”
Commented Ben Ammar, who is Eagle Pictures’ president: “We are very proud to continue our partnership with Sony Pictures International Productions with ‘Il Corpo.'”
“It’s the second co-production project and we are glad to have entrusted the direction to a talent like Vincenzo Alfieri,” Ammar added. The first title of Sony and Eagle’s partnership to co-produce six pictures is the recent romcom “You’ve Got Hotspot” (“Hotspot – Amore Senza Rete”) directed by Giulio Manfredonia.
Eagle Pictures, which is headed by former Mediaset exec Andrea Goretti, is Italy’s top indie film distributor thanks to its deals with Sony Pictures and Paramount, whose titles they release exclusively in Italian cinemas.
“Il Corpo” will be released in Italian cinemas by Eagle Pictures in 2024.
