Squid Game: The Challenge contestants have recalled the odd use of condoms on the set of the competition.

Contestants Roland Hannigan (418) and Trey Plutnicki (301) took part in a podcast where they reminisced about their time on the reality show spin-off of Netflix's dystopian drama.

In the podcast, they alleged that production left a large number of condoms in the showers, with Hannigan claiming: "They were craving for someone to have sex because they made a very big point that we were not tested for STDs. And they made it clear, 'We're not going to stop you.'"

In a bizarre twist, Plutnicki said that "The condoms were not used for sex, as far as I know," and alleged that the lube on the condoms was was used as a chapstick due to the cold conditions on the set of the 'Red Light, Green Light' challenge.

Digital Spy has reached out to Netflix for a response to these claims.

Their comments about how cold it was while filming that first challenge line up with what other contestants have previously alleged, with some even seeking legal representation to take action against the producers.

A spokesperson for the show stated in November that the "no lawsuit has been filed", while a previous statement read: "Netflix, Studio Lambert and The Garden takes contributor care as one of its highest priorities and regular toilet breaks, water and food are categorically standard practice on production.

"All contestants were prepared by production several weeks ago that they would be playing a game in cold conditions and participated knowing this. All precautions were taken to ensure the game was played safely."

Squid Game: The Challenge can be streamed on Netflix now. Season 2 of the main show is in the works.
