Work starts on upgraded drainage network
Work has started to upgrade the drainage network at two spots in Jersey.
The Government of Jersey said work to replace a groyne at St Aubin’s Bay with a new surface water outfall, which is designed to separate surface water from the combined sewer system, began on Monday.
It said it would also install a new surface water pipe on St Aubin's Road.
Much of the project is expected to be completed by mid-October, the government said.
The project will also see surface water connection to the new hospital facilities at Overdale.
As a result the government said access to Victoria Avenue Car Park Layby Two would be limited and a small number of parking spaces would be suspended for short periods during various stages.
Beach exclusion zone
Cyclists and pedestrians were advised to use caution and follow signs along the promenade.
They may also need to dismount from their bikes at certain times during some parts of the work
Meanwhile, an exclusion zone will be put in place protecting the construction site on the beach.
Swimmers were advised to heed the warning buoys and information signs in the area.
Work to clad the outfall with granite would continue after October, with minimal disruption to the foot and cycle path, the government said.
