Netflix has released the full trailer for Bodies, an upcoming police procedural drama with a mind-bending twist.

The eight-part limited series, based on Si Spencer's graphic novel of the same name, follows four different detectives from four different time periods — 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053 — as they investigate the exact same murder in London's East End.

As connections are made across the decades, Stephen Graham's enigmatic political leader Elias Mannix emerges as a pivotal figure in unravelling a conspiracy that spans over 150 years.

The trailer opens with 2023's central detective DS Hasan (The Responder's Amaka Okafor) discovering the body of a man who was seemingly shot in the eye on Longharvest Lane, Whitechapel.

"There's not one hit on any database," a doctor tells her after the post-mortem examination. "No DNA on record. No prints. No bullet casings were discovered on the scene, and there's no exit wound either."

We then watch as DS Hasan discovers that DI Hillinghead (Andor's Kyle Soller) investigated the exact same murder on Longharvest Lane in 1890, while DS Whiteman (The Queen's Gambit's Jacob Fortune-Lloyd) investigated it over 50 years later in 1941.

"The body is from the past, present and future," Elias Mannix tells DS Hasan, before the trailer cuts to DC Maplewood (Unorthodox's Shira Haas) discovering the same body in 2053.

"It's hard to grasp, isn't it?" he continues. "But I'm going to tell you everything, and it's going to blow your mind."

Torchwood writer Paul Tomalin developed the show, while Marco Kreuzpaintner sat in the director's chair.

Bodies comes to Netflix on October 19.
